At certain speeds
Vibration through the steering wheel around 80 to 100 km/h is commonly an out-of-balance wheel. A tyre with a bulge or separated belt can also cause it and is a safety risk.
When braking
Pulsing in the pedal or wheel when braking usually means uneven or warped brake rotors.
At idle
Shaking at idle that eases when you drive often points to a misfire or worn engine mounts. A check engine light alongside it suggests a misfire.
When accelerating or turning
Vibration under acceleration can be a worn CV joint or driveshaft. Clicking on full lock turns is a classic CV joint sign.
Safe to drive?
A bulging tyre, heavy shaking or a flashing check engine light: stop and get it checked. Mild vibration at speed: book a balance and inspection soon.
General guidance only, not a diagnosis. If in doubt, do not drive it and have it inspected. In an emergency, call 111.

Questions
Will a wheel alignment fix vibration?
Usually not. Alignment fixes pulling and uneven wear; balancing fixes vibration at speed.
What should I put in the job?
When it happens, at what speed, and whether you feel it in the steering wheel, the seat or the pedal.
