Terms of Use
Last updated: 22 October 2026 · Version: 1.2
The short version. AutoRepairs is an introduction service. We connect you with independent automotive businesses; we do not carry out repairs, we are not a party to your repair contract, and we do not warrant anyone's workmanship. Providers, and fleets on a paid plan, pay us a flat monthly subscription. We take no commission on your job and we do not sell ranking positions.
1. These terms
These terms form a binding agreement between you and Mellers Tech Limited , which operates AutoRepairs NZ. By creating an account, posting a job, or using the marketplace you agree to them. If you are agreeing on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.
You must be at least 18 years old to use AutoRepairs.
2. What AutoRepairs is, and what it is not
AutoRepairs is a platform that introduces vehicle owners to automotive service providers. We are not the repairer. When you engage a provider, the contract for that work is between you and the provider only. AutoRepairs is not a party to it.
We do not:
- perform, supervise, inspect or certify any repair, service or inspection;
- set, approve or guarantee any provider's price, timeframe or workmanship;
- hold or handle payment for the repair work itself;
- guarantee that any provider will respond, quote, or be available.
Warrant of Fitness inspections may only be carried out by providers authorised by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency. AutoRepairs does not issue WOFs.
3. How matching and ranking work
Every provider is scored the same way for each job: whether they offer the job's type of work (required), whether they cover the job's region, whether they are verified, their customer rating, and whether they respond to most jobs. Up to 10 providers are matched to each job; providers with equal scores are ordered at random for that job. If nobody nearby takes a job up, it may be widened to neighbouring regions. A provider a customer books by name is always included. Only providers whose subscription or free period is current are matched. We do not sell ranking positions, and we do not take a commission on any job. Provider subscription tier and founding membership do not affect matching or ranking.
Where a provider on the platform is under common ownership or control with AutoRepairs or its operator, that relationship is disclosed on the provider's public profile.
4. Verification — what "verified" means
A "verified" badge means we have received and reviewed the specific evidence listed on that provider's profile, such as an NZBN record, insurance certificate or trade qualification. It is a check of documents at a point in time.
It is not a guarantee of workmanship, competence, solvency, current insurance, or that any document remains valid. You should make your own enquiries before engaging a provider, including confirming their insurance and any warranty they offer.
5. For vehicle owners
- Describe your vehicle and the fault accurately. Providers quote based on what you tell them; an inaccurate description generally means an inaccurate quote.
- You choose which providers to connect with, up to three per job. Your exact address and contact details are released only to providers you connect with.
- Quotes are estimates from independent businesses. Confirm scope, price, GST treatment, parts, timeframe and warranty directly with the provider before work starts.
- Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986 apply to your contract with the provider, not to AutoRepairs. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
- Reviews must be honest, based on your own experience of a job you actually posted, and must not contain abuse, false allegations or personal information about individuals.
6. For providers
- You must be a genuine automotive business, hold any licences, registrations and insurance your services require, and keep them current.
- You must not misrepresent your qualifications, insurance, capacity or affiliations. Verification and rating fields are set by AutoRepairs and cannot be edited by you.
- Customer contact details released to you may be used only to quote and carry out that job. You must not add customers to marketing lists, share their details, or contact them about unrelated services. This is both a term of this agreement and an obligation under the Privacy Act 2020 and the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007.
- You must not attempt to take a customer off-platform to avoid platform rules, or solicit customers to post jobs elsewhere.
- Quotes must be honest, complete, and clear about GST. Honour quotes you send unless the customer agrees to a variation.
- You are solely responsible for the work you perform, your compliance with health and safety and consumer law, and your own tax obligations.
7. Subscriptions and billing
- Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance in New Zealand dollars, through Stripe. Mellers Tech Limited is not registered for GST, so no GST is charged on our subscriptions or fees and our receipts are not tax invoices. If we register for GST, we will tell you before anything you pay changes.
- Any free trial period is stated at signup. If you gave card details for the trial, the subscription continues when it ends and the first payment is taken automatically unless you cancel first. If you did not give card details, nothing is charged: when the trial ends you choose a plan and pay then, or your access to new job matches stops.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not refund part-months, except where required by law or where we have made an error.
- If a payment fails we may retry it and will notify you. Access to new job matches stops if your subscription lapses; you keep access to jobs you are already connected to so work in progress is not disrupted.
- We may change subscription pricing on 30 days' notice. If you do not accept a price change you may cancel before it takes effect.
- Your subscription buys access to the platform and to matched job leads. It does not buy any guaranteed number of leads, connections, quotes or won jobs.
Founding members
- The first 50 businesses we verify become founding members (businesses owned by AutoRepairs or its operator are not counted). A spot is confirmed when we verify the business.
- Founding members get the Pro plan free for 6 months, counted from their first matched job and never ending sooner than 6 months after they became a founding member. No card is needed for this period.
- After that, founding members get 50% off the price of whichever provider plan they choose, for as long as their subscription continues without lapsing. If a founding member cancels and later re-subscribes, we may, but need not, apply the discount again.
- Founding members pay no AutoRepairs fee on card payments (below) during their first 6 months as a founding member.
Card payments on invoices
- Card payments are optional. If you turn them on, you open your own Stripe account through AutoRepairs and accept Stripe's terms for that account. Your customers pay you directly through Stripe; AutoRepairs never holds the money.
- You are the seller. Refunds, disputes, chargebacks and Stripe's own processing fees are between you, your customer and Stripe.
- AutoRepairs charges 0.5% of each card payment, capped at NZ$10 per payment, collected by Stripe from that payment. We will give 30 days' notice of any change to this fee.
- Payment records, parts-cost records, the accountant copy and the hnry connection are record-keeping aids. They are not tax or accounting advice, and you remain responsible for your own GST and income tax returns.
Fleet plans
- Fleet tools are free for up to 2 vehicles. Paid fleet plans cover the number of vehicles stated for the plan. The billing, trial, renewal, cancellation and price-change terms above apply to fleet plans too. A fleet gets one free trial.
- Vehicles beyond your plan stay on your account and can always be booked in, but reminders, the due digest and driver checks run only for the vehicles within your plan.
- Reminders and the due digest are a convenience and depend on the dates and odometer readings you and your drivers enter. You remain responsible for keeping your vehicles warranted, registered, licensed for road user charges and safe to drive. Driver checks help you keep records, but they do not replace your duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
- You are responsible for telling your drivers that their checks are recorded and what is collected (see our Privacy Policy). We hold driver check records on your behalf.
Customer tools for providers
- If you use the customer book, reminders, review requests, invoices or digital inspections, you decide which customer information to add, and you must be entitled to use it. We hold it on your behalf and use it only to provide those tools.
- Emails to your customers are sent in your business's name, with replies going to you and an unsubscribe link in every reminder and review request. You are responsible for having your customers' consent to receive them, as required by the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. Do not add people who are not your customers.
- Invoices you create are your invoices. You are responsible for their content, including whether GST is charged and your GST number.
8. Acceptable use
You must not post false, misleading or fraudulent information; harass, abuse or discriminate against anyone; scrape, probe or attempt to bypass access controls; upload malware; impersonate anyone; or use the platform for anything unlawful. We may suspend or remove any account that does.
9. Content you provide
You keep ownership of the photos, descriptions and reviews you submit. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store and display that content for the purpose of operating the marketplace. We may remove content that breaches these terms.
10. Availability
We aim to keep the platform available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. We will give reasonable notice of any change that materially reduces what a paying provider receives.
11. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986 where those Acts apply and cannot be excluded.
Where you are acquiring our services for business purposes, the parties agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply, as permitted by section 43 of that Act.
To the extent permitted by law: we are not liable for the acts, omissions, workmanship, delays, pricing or conduct of any provider or customer; we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of business; and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period (or NZ$100 if you paid us nothing).
12. Disputes between users
Disputes about repair work are between the customer and the provider. We may, at our discretion, provide records of platform activity to help resolve a dispute. Consumers can seek help from the Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal (where it has jurisdiction), the Disputes Tribunal, or Citizens Advice Bureau.
13. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account for breach of these terms, suspected fraud, or conduct that puts other users at risk. If we terminate a paid subscription without cause, we will refund the unused portion of the current period.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For material changes we will give at least 14 days' notice by email or in the app. Continuing to use the platform after that means you accept the updated terms.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law and the New Zealand courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
